NBC Cancels “Law and Order”

The venerable TV Series “Law and Order” may have brought its last bad guy to justice. Deadline Hollywood has revealed that NBC has decided not to renew the show for its 21^st season. Reasons cited are declining ratings and a strong slate of new shows. “Law and Order” is tied with “Gunsmoke” for the longest-running drama on TV with 20 seasons each.

This is pretty shocking, since NBC had previously indicated that they would be bringing back the original “L&O” for one more year and are launching yet another spinoff, “Law & Order: Los Angeles,” for next season. NBC has so far refused to comment.

The final season of “The Hills” began airing this week, but not all the drama is on the screen! Kristin Cavallari denied her costars’ accusations that she was abusing drugs, but sources are reporting that the actress is as wild as ever. The new issue of US Weekly claims Kristin got down and dirty at the recent Coachella music festival in Indio, CA. A source dished that the reality babe “was drinking and partying. I saw her do a line of cocaine.”

One more pal told US: “The dudes she hangs out with are all party promoters — and they’re party animals.” Another source added: “She’s been sucked into the Hollywood scene. She’s surrounded by the leeches who enable her.” All this does not sound too promising, especially since “The Hills” is drawing to a close and Kristin may find new jobs difficult to come by if she continues her hard-partying ways.

Rock Out With “The Runaways” Today

“The Runaways,” the film chronicling a group of pioneering rocker chicks, opens in theaters today. Stars Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart joined original Runaways Cherie Currie and Joan Jett at the NYC premiere of the film earlier this week. The indie flick tells how punk rock guitar slinger Jett convinced Hollywood Svengali Kim Fowley to help her put together a band, and the pair discovered blonde Valley Girl Currie.

Early reviews have complained that the film focuses too much on Currie, who pretty much sank from sight after the band broke up, rather than the more talented Jett, who would go on to solo stardom. But, hey—fans of rock movies will love it anyway!
